This is my first Bradbury and I'm very much astounded by him as a writer. Few other authors I've read have been able to achieve such a delicate sadness even in a work that seems to border on parody. Both people and nature move with such collective force, some poking their heads out to become individuals for but a few moments before dipping back down again. Particularly in sci-fi which, too frequently, tends to have a cold, calculated, distanced (and in all, completely unrealistic) view on humanity, culture, worlds and the universe, having Ray Bradbury for the genre is a great boon and his work is a true display of what sci-fi can do.
