Belle de Jour: Diary of an Unlikely Call Girl

by Belle de Jour
A sassy read filled with unabashed candor towards sex. Yet not wholly explicit. It was easy to get through and even though the book was a series of diary entries it still contained a nice plot thread. The author/main character is not completely relatable with her massive libido and enjoyment of sometimes degrading acts of sex, but she is frank and open about her sexual desires so you can't really begrudge that. It's a pretty fascinating look into prostitution and upsets the idea that all ladies of the night suffer from debilitating childhood traumas or are drug addicts. Even though it glamorizes the trade a bit, it's snarky and funny enough that you could easily forget it was a true story.
