The author says, at the end of the book, that she based the story on as much fact as she could gather. I kept thinking it was a wild recreation of how Nefertiti's life could have been and now I want to research Nefertiti to find out just how much of the novel was true.
It was all interesting, though. I enjoyed the story, was completely put-off by Nefertiti who came across as a spoiled and manipulative brat, though, in the end, I was sad when she died mostly because everyone else loved her so much.
It was fun to listen to this while also listening to Cleopatra: A Life; they went well together.
