Complex, interesting book about a family coping with grief as they coped in life. I enjoyed the way each person in the family was acknowledged as having had their own life journey regardless of the fact that they were also expected to behave like a family unit. I find so much to think about in a complicated realistic story about functional dysfunctional families.
Coming together to mark the passing of the father felt like a growing experience for the brothers and sister, husband and wives, and friends so that they could reevaluate what they were doing in their lives and why, and reestablish ways of relatingto and thinking about each other. Although the story in many ways remained unresolved, the book felt hopeful for revealing choices and opportunities for the family members.
