it was amazing

Extraordinarily dense and layered, beyond my comprehension even...this is a novel that English majors could probably spend six months deconstructing and still not get to the bottom of. Addiction, depression, the problem of consumerism, familial dysfunction, stunted emotional growth, and the price we all pay for our transgressions against each other, all these themes and more are here. This was my first Franzen, won't be my last, but honestly now I need a breather for a much lighter novel!
