Recommended for: people who like silent film, personal disaster, interesting histororical perspectives

Parts of this book deserve more stars, but my overall impression while reading this book was that it seemed to drag on and felt like I was constantly yelling "get started, already" at the story. And yet, I kept reading, and I finished the book... I did really enjoy the windows into many interesting historical events. But, I think overall, I spent too much time cringing at the constant foreshadowing of imminent personal disaster to really enjoy myself.
