This is a story about Franklin and how he is trying to solve the problem of getting over his fears of small and dark places-- his shell. He goes around asking many different animals for help, and later learns that everyone has something that they are afraid of and that you can conquer your fears even if it may seem impossible at times. This would be a great story to read to younger elementary students maybe even during the first week of school and can lead into a discussion about one another's personal fears and what we can do to conquer them.
