it was amazing

I have no idea why this book is listed under the name McCabe. The book I read was "History of the Grange Movement, Or, the Farmer's War against Monopolies, being a Full and Authentic Account of the Struggles of the American Farmers against the Extortions of the Railroad Companies, with a History of the Rise and Progress of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry" (etc), by Edward Winslow Martin, published in Philadelphia by the National Publishing Company, 1873.

The first great system of economic thievery in the US was organized and carried out by the railroad companies, which began by buying congressmen and proceeded to stealing land from farmers. This book lays it all out, no holds barred. Fascinating and in many ways still relevant.
