I love James Michener's books. Most of them are historical fiction. This book was about Afghanistan in the 1940's. It was amazing the amount of detail that was in this book, also in his other books. His books are definitely not easy, quick reads. I learned so much about the area that he wrote about, and the history of that country, it made me appreciate a little more the struggles that they are having in present time. He also talked a lot about the dams and bridges that foreigners have built there, and a man in our ward just spent some time there with the military, and he was building bridges!

I have read about 6 of James Michener's books, and my favorites, by far, are his books Mexico, and Poland.
