Probably the best military reporter of the past 25 years, Ricks (formerly with the Washington Post) dissects the motivations, misinformation, and outright lies involved in selling the Iraq War to America, and then chronicles the thoroughly botched aftermath as American (and allied) armed forces, administrators, collaborators, Jihadists, and Iraqi and American politicians attempt to occupy and govern a country after dismantling its governmental apparatus and destroying its infrastructure. The usual cast of characters: Bush, Condi, Rumsfeld, Chaney, Wolfowitz, Feith, Powell, and more; Abu Ghraib, WMDs...
