See Oriana's 2 star review below. This should have been a good novel. It's about alligator wrestling and the Florida mangrove swamps, and overcoming deprivations. And it is somewhat comic, at least in the parts about Kiwi, the brother of 2 sisters Osseola and Ava, a 14 year old alligator wrestler. Ava and kiwi are the narrators. But there was so much FILLER. A story that should have been exciting became excruciatingly boring. And what became of the alligators at Swamplandia? I don't like even the hint of animal abuse, not to mention the child abuse that is the hallmark of this story.

Edited to note that the narrator of the audio version I read, Arielle Sitrik, was HORRIBLE. She rushed and had an annoying great lakes type of accent. Don't listen to this book in audio! If you ever see this name as the narrator of another book, don't listen to it.
