Consent to Kill

by Vince Flynn (Goodreads Author)
Vince Flynn clearly idolizes Tom Clancy. The Mitch Rapp series is an echo of the Jack Ryan saga (without the submarines.) Both are perfect heros, Ryan become President (what's up with that?) while Rapp just saves the President's life twice and becomes a buddy. And as both series went on they both descended into becoming a platform for the author's conservative politics. I found Consent to Kill so tedious I couldn't keep going. There was page after page of how perfect Mitch Rapp is, from his good looks to his ability to kill with peanut butter. (Ok, I made that up.) Note to Mr. Flynn: My kids learned in middle school that's its better to show the qualities rather than describe them. I could have dealt with the slow plot if we didn't get continuous references to the evil liberals who just don't understand that violence is the real solution.
And Rapp is portrayed as so scary and dangerous, the whole spy and terrorist world was afraid of him. We had lots of enemies, but they were nervous to attempt attacks on him. Apparently, it never occurred to any of them that his beautiful wife, a correspondent for NBC, might be a way to get at him. Or perhaps that happened later in the book, I'll never know.
So, the slow pacing, boring descriptions and tedious political screed was just to much to take. I didn't finish it and i wasn't even curious as to how it ended.
