A sweet and sparse picture book where the powerful illustrations tell the entire story of healing and hope. Right when you open the book, you see a pigeon soaring through the clouds, then you turn the page before the actual book starts, and see the startling image of the pigeon crashing into a high rise building. What follows is the choice a young boy makes to take this fallen bird home and under his care, and the slow but hopeful days of healing shown in such beautiful detail in the illustrations. A good book to share with children when they have a pet on the mend. Recommended for ages four and up.
