I only gave this book 3 stars because William Goldman, who claims to have abridged the book from the deadly long original, keeps interjecting his own sardonic, obnoxious voice into the pages. Plus, "Buttercup's Baby," the entirely fake sequel, is horrible and awful (Fezzik dies. Seriously.) and the numerous introductions are simply annoying. I want to get the story, not read the "abridger's" comments every five pages.

Buttercup is lame. Really. But Westley mostly makes up for it. The writing also isn't that great; it's pretty affected most of the time.

But I LOVE the fencing scene. Unfortunately, I'm going to admit that I do not like the book as much as the movie.
