While waiting for George RR Martin's next Song of Fire and Ice novel I picked up this short science fiction from the same section of the bookstore. (This was likely exactly what the publishers had in mind.) Though Dying of the Light stylistically very different from A Game of Thrones et. al - almost not discernibly by the same author - it's also startlingly good. In any event it's pleasing to see that GRRM retains his storytelling skill on the sci-fi side of the Nerd Literature Spectrum.
