The Lady and the Monk: Four Seasons in Kyoto
by Pico Iyer
by Pico Iyer
A lovely, well-paced read. Iyer takes his time to not just describe the city as a locale (as a typical travelogue would), but as a point-in-space in his life. He is careful to properly illustrate Kyoto's profound effect in his personal landscape, juxtaposing this to a curious nomad's eye for cultural keypoints.
