This is my favorite book in the series so far. The relationship between Elena and Raphael is official, but Raphael's mother who is in the Sleep is waking up and causing chaos. Book 2 focused alot on Elena becoming an Angel-Made and her recovery from injuries in book 1 and it also delved into the newness of her relationship with Raphael. One of the things that I like about this series and this book in particular was that with the leading love interests, there wasn't a lot of 'am i making the right choice? do I really love him?' kind of stuff. Both Elena and Raphael are clearly committed to their relationship and you see more of how they work through their conflicts and their differences...they both have to learn to compromise which isn't in either of their DNA.

The action moves a little slow initially in terms of the plot with Mommy Dearest, but the ending is great and leaves you wanting book 4 to be already published. I liked a lot how Elena's mortal heart affects Raphael and his powers.
