More of a love story than anything else. One does get a good perspective of what it was like being a Hungarian Jew, in the military, during WWII. Even the Jewish soldiers were treated as prisoners by their own military. From a hisrical fiction perspective it leans a bit heavy on the love story aspect between the two main characters so you end up with a lot more love story than anything else.
