really liked it

I enjoyed the story, but felt the setting was less than important to the story. It could have been any small town/any state in the south. That disappointed me since I grew up in the area the story is set in and was only slightly younger than the protagonist at the time it was set. The setting could have added so much richness that I felt the author missed out on a great opportunity to make the story even better.
