did not like it

I wanted so much to get into this book and enjoy it...but no.
I was hoping for a cohesive (fictionalized) account of the doomed arctic expedition in search of the NW passage. Instead, it has been a series of vignettes that jump around in time between flat, unremarkable POV characters or settings. I don't mind jumps, but they come too quickly to build up any resonance. It feels like log entries instead of a story. If I wanted that, I'd track down the original accounts.
Some of the writing is just plain silly and overblown.
Haven't been able to get very far or finish.

Scurvy is bad, m'kay?
