Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill

Wow! that was a rocking read. It would be enough to say I was multitasking while listening to the audiobook and still followed every word to express how much I loved it. I was frustrated by the amount of math problems I had to go through in order to prepare for an exam and listening to a good book while I did it made the necessary somewhat easier, even appealing.

The book began somewhat confusingly for my taste but I quickly caught its specific... rhythm, and from then on it was a great experience. I loved Merit, and don't even get me started on Ethan. The rest of the characters were goofy or mysterious or dazzling, all thoroughly lovable.

And the plot... wow. For a person who's just gone through Karen Marie Moning's Fever, I couldn't believe I could be so intrigued by another read of the sort. The first book has potential and I hope that, like with the Fever series, these will grow and develop with every next installment.

In any case, I'm already revving for the next. As soon as that maths exam's over and done with tomorrow I'd be onto the second book, a small reward to alleviate the leftover tension.

“Although security and warfare had never been my gig, vampire security was highly contextual and thus incredibly interesting. There were links to history (Vampires were screwed over yesterday!) and politics (House X screwed us over yesterday!), philosophy (Why do you think they screwed us over yesterday?) and ethics (If we didn’t bite, would they have screwed us over yesterday?), and, of course, strategy (How did they screw us over? How can we keep them from screwing us over again or, better yet, screw them over first?).”
