I read this book when it first came out, and it fed RIGHT into my burgeoning vampire obsession. (Which, as you know, has never really abated in the 30-odd years since.) What's great about this book is that it's completely age appropriate, yet still manages a dark, gothic air. Plus, it's told from the POV of an adorable dog. It's maybe an hour's read.

I can't help it, this series just makes me squee and jump up and down and make other little girl excited motions. My copies have disappeared over the years, but it's easy to get them used for less than a buck, so I'm going to get them all. Vampires and doggies and kitties -- oh my! :D

So keep your eye on your veggies, and if your cat starts doing weird stuff with garlic...
