Strong Poison
by Dorothy L. Sayers
by Dorothy L. Sayers
A fun, quick little read, but not very great shakes as a mystery. I'd been pointed to Sayers by a couple of friends, who assure me that her books get better as you go along, so I'll likely try a few more before passing judgment on her as an author. The prose is more fun than the mystery itself in this one -- all the characters are shameless quoters, which makes for lots of enjoyable "I'm-clever-enough-to-get-that" moments for the reader (assuming, of course, that he or she is in fact clever enough to get it). Gilbert and Sullivan lyrics abound, which always endears a work to me.
