I liked it...I think the book was great in construction and an English class gold mine in terms of themes, character relationships, devices, etc. But otherwise having guessed the initial reveal ahead of time, it read like a boring diary (or a long letter to someone more like). Sorry Ishiguro! A very pleasant read. (Upon discussion with a good friend who loves Ishiguro, he told me this is by far not his best book, and that it's so straightforward that it reads like Young Adult fiction which is exactly what I thought! Not that that's a bad thing, just not what I expected from what I know about the author. And so I can't wait to read his other books...)
