I had been meaning to read Alice Munro for a long time. After all the fiction articles in The New Yorker and a recent biographical essay I read, I found it to be time. This collection was truly page-turning. Munro has a way of creating characters that mean something to the reader in only a few pages. Her majority female main characters, have delicate and yet realistic quirks, that connect them not only to each other but to society. Munro also writes a riveting plot with a nice unexpected twist to keep you guessing. Would definitely recommend to any lovers of short stories but also those who read for uncomplicated but truly elevated language.
