Author: Jerry Spinelli

Thesis: Being yourself is more important than being popular

Theme: Be yourself

Abstract
Stargirl sings to Leo in the cafeteria. An individuality spree takes place. Leo and Stargirl kiss, then Leo demands that Stargirl act normal while they date. Stargirl first tries to follow this ultimatum but then rejects it, as she sees it is not worth it.

Title
A good title, the main characters name in pictorial format. This gives proper foreshadowing of the main characters personality.

Author
Spinelli graduated from Gettysburg College in 1963 and acquired his MA from Johns Hopkins University in 1964. He married Eileen Mesi in 1977,[1] who also writes children's books.[4] They have seven children and sixteen grandchildren.

Jerry Spinelli wrote Stargirl for girl tweens to realize that each and every one of them is special, and they should never compromise. [

His major works include:
• Love, Stargirl
• Maniac Magee
• Wringer
• I Can Be Anything!

Recommendation
For any girl in need of a purpose.

About the book
Being set in a reclusive school with all kinds of money that make things like a school TV show possible really aid the story. Also the nice town that seems medium size is neat. There are two main problems, one if the school rejecting Stargirl after changing to a win or die school and the second is her love for Leo. The ending is unfair for Leo in some ways but fitting I suppose.

How I Feel
This book makes my cry when I read it. I realized how little I was doing with my life and how much I wanted to do with it.
