House of Suns

This book was a real treat and kinda came out of nowhere, just having seen it recommended by Felicia Day in a blog post. For a while I was largely "taking a break" from reading, not having many go-to franchises that I could rely on and having too little patience to read through hours worth of introduction before getting wrapped up in the narrative.
In the case of House of Suns, Alastair Reynolds grabbed me in the first couple chapters. The hard sci-fi mixed with a strong sense of dialogue and characterization appealed to some of my strongest reading desires. I appreciate when an author has the wherewithal to get into some scientific nitty-gritty about Dyson spheres/clouds as though the information he's sharing is as common as a grocery list.
My enjoyment of this book continued to the very end. Despite the fact that some of the scientific aspects of the latter stages of the book were a little opaque in my eyes, I was definitely able to emotionally invest to an extent that the final pages really tugged on my heartstrings. If you're a sci-fi nut whose in love with space as I am, definitely give out Alastair Reynolds's House of Suns a shot.
