bookshelves: autism, fiction

I read this last night and was surprised to like it as well as I did. I think the author did a good job portraying the flat literal nature you sometimes get with children with autism. The comfort mechanisms and the rituals and the foods were pretty accurate. The "mystery" was solveable in the first chapters, but the main character's journey was more the point of the book. I admired the book for its structure/storytelling also.

CLM There are pros and cons, and I can see why you might be biased but I think for people without exposure to autism it is somewhat educational. Have you followed the controversy surrounding that new TV show? Interesting column in the NYT last week.
