Maybe because I've read too much GRRM lately I kept expecting something bad to happen but it seems almost like a fairy tale. People say what they mean and do what they say. No main characters die, no betrayals occur... I like the story and it's enjoyable and all but just didn't feel very believable, especially the conversations. Young characters talking like wizened adults.

Todd Geraty great series! a very easy read.

Michael Cool I'm gonna try this next I think, thanks!

Michael Nevermind, apparently doesn't exist on the kindle :(

Todd Geraty no way! that's lame, should have gotten a nook ;-)

The first 4 books of the series are self-contained and a good read in themselves. The second time I went through the series I read the next 6 books as well and (if I remember correctly) it's a generation or two later in that same world.

Michael Hah, I'm liking the nook color especially since they ported honeycomb to it.

Wow 10 books in the series?

Todd Geraty Sorry you didn't like it so much - it's definitely not a very complex story. Simple dialog and plot lines - but when I read it I remember that was perfect for what I was looking to read.

Michael hehe, I'm reading the 2nd one so I like it well enough. It's just funny because with Martin you never know who is gonna die next or what betrayal there will be so it caught me off guard to not have it in this one.

Todd Geraty If I remember right, someone does die - but it's been almost 10 years since I've read it. And now that I've been spoiled with GRRM, who knows, I may not like the series any more...
