Won ARC from Firstreads.

Great book about two sisters. The time switches back and forth between modern times and 1947. Specifically one day in the present and the summer of 1947 when Milly and Twiss received a visit from their cousin Bett and their lives were forever changed. The two girls and their very different reactions to situations reminded me a lot of myself and my sister. I am like Milly, retreating from conflict by baking/cooking/reading, while my sister is much more like Twiss who goes to the barn and hammers nails into boards to deal with various situations. I loved these sisters and will definitely keep an eye out for this author and her future works!

Traci I just won my first book ! Precious and Fragile Things

Sonja That sounds like a good one! I like Firstreads because they are not all books that I would spend money on just from the description/title, but I am interested in reading them. I've found a few new authors this way.

Traci looking forward to receiving the book. Wonder how long it will take to get it?

Traci what site do you usually use to register for the books?

Sonja I've gotten them in as little as 3-4 days, but I had one that took over 6 weeks. It depends on the publisher/author and how on top of things they are.

I really only register to win free books on Goodreads. Jenni, however, has had some luck on both www.librarything.com and www.nyjournalofbooks.com . Librarything gives away e-books as well as paper/hardcover books.

What happened to your old reader?

Traci it was sitting on my foot stool and I didn't see it and put my heal on it... didn't crack the screen but when I turned it on it had all these lines going through it.
Having trouble loading the library software on my computer .... will be working on that tonight

Sonja That's not good. I'm glad you were able to get a new one so quickly! Good luck with the software! It seems like computers always rebel at the most inconvenient times.
