This was an interesting take on East of the Sun, West of the Moon, where the main character is the daughter of an Arctic research scientist. Her mother is the daughter of the North Wind who was promised to be the wife of the Polar Bear King, except she backed out when she met the scientist, so now her daughter has to marry the Polar Bear King. Good premise. Unfortunately the book is not that great. I thought the best parts were the parts about the Arctic station where the scientist and his daughter live, after she goes off to the Polar Bear King's castle it all becomes kind of cartoon-y, like, it doesn't have that feeling of fairy-tale reality these stories need to be believable. The dialogue is also pretty cliche.
