I think this book is a great way to teach children about safety and how they need to be aware of everything around them at all times. With the use of Gloria in the story I do think helps focus the children in more on what is going on. She is a silly dog who pushes Officer Buckle into doing what he loves best after not having such a great experience prior to getting Gloria. I even think this story would be a great way to introduce writing letters in school as throughout the story letters are being recieved. The teacher and students could talk about the letters and maybe decide what the purpose of a letter may be.
