Valtat definitely has an impressive imagination and there are some beautiful moments in his writing, but at times he gets caught up in the poetry of it all. His prose borders on tedious, however, there are many clever, imaginative, and incredibly described segments of "Aurorarama" to classify it as a good read. The tone of the book put me into an ironic drug hazed state of mind, much like one of its main characters Gabriel d'Allier. Which, I kind of appreciated. It's definitely worth a read just for the setting alone.
