Jessica's review of The Notorious Dr. August: His Real Life and Crimes
The Notorious Dr. August: His Real Life and Crimes by Christopher Bram
Ugh. You'd think (or at least I thought) that a book about a clairvoyant pianist would be pretty interesting, but no. It's really tough to enjoy a book that contains no remotely likable characters. I'd even go for some unlikeable characters if they were interesting. Instead, they were humorless and bland. I couldn't wait to finish.
Great first line, though! I think it was: "Life is eternal, but lives are short."
