Christina's review of I Was a Rat!
I Was a Rat! by Philip Pullman
All right, so I admit I bought this because Half Price Books didn't have any copies of Pullman's "The Golden Compass." I thought I'd try an author preview. I'm hopeful "Compass" has more to offer.
So I know "Rat" is a book for kids, but great works transcend genres, especially with children's literature. This ain't one of 'em.
It's suppose to be in large part a dig at the media, which would be fine if it weren't like reading every stereotypical media dig there is. Plus it doesn't really go anywhere and it's just boring.
Sorry for any typos -- typing w/baby in one arm.
