As a huge fan of the original Spiderwick Chronicles, I can't believe I hadn't seen these three books before my birthday. Okay, so maybe I'm a little bit too old for this series now, but I love it anyway. The hardcover editions are gorgeous and I adore Tony DiTerlizzi's illustrations. The story itself is funny and exciting, the characters are very likable and the story ends up taking a much darker turn towards the end than I expected.

And can I just gush over how beautiful the books themselves are again? Anyway, this is a very easy, fun read that new readers and kids familiar with the story of the Grace siblings will love. Looking forward to reading the next two!
