Terrell's review of The Bookseller of Kabul
The Bookseller of Kabul by Asne Seierstad
A female journalist moves into the home of a regimented man named Sultan Khan. She tries to keep her space while attempting to learn the way that people live in Kabul. Kahn’s books have been censored over the years; he is a Muslim who supports American literature. This book takes many turns as it attempts to provide a glimpse into Kahn’s life—one of those turns is when he decides to marry a younger woman while still married. The reader will sense the animosity the narrator has for Kahn.
