Praying for Sheetrock: A Work of Nonfiction by Melissa Fay Greene
The county of McIntosh, Georgia was behind the rest of the U.S. in terms of social change. Negroes did not have the political rights in the 1970's. They were passive about their position, too. That is until Ed Finch was shot for no apparent reason. Thereafter, Thurnell Alston, a man with little education, became absorbed. With the help of many legal professionals he began to change the way things were conducted in McIntosh.
