In this installment of the Alex Cross series, Kyle Craig escapes from the maximum security prison while a serially killing team, dubbed D.C.A.K. is wreaking havoc on Washington D.C. "in [his:] honor." It should come as no surprise that Alex Cross comes out of his "retirement" to help pursue the murderers.

I'm not exactly sure why I continue to read these books. I haven't been impressed with the Alex Cross series since about the second novel. Essentially the same predictible plot occurs with a slightly different setting and Alex usually has a new girlfriend - that's about the only differences. I found that to be true with this novel as well. I don't like Alex as a protagonist, and I think that's due mostly to the fact that he's too perfect. He doesn't seem to have human qualities, human flaws - he's the perfect male specimen (resembles a young Ali), he's the perfect cop - always solving this "difficult" serial murders, the perfect psychologist...he...more
