it was amazing
bookshelves: dystopian, young-adult
Read in January, 2011

I was hooked from the very minute I started reading this book. I asked myself all the way through if I would handle the situation the way each of the girls handled it or would I just give up? The story has a wonderful villain in the form of Housemaster Vaughn, Linden's father. I hated him from the beginning. I thought of all the vile things that should befall a man like him. In case you haven't figured it out the characters are so well developed you felt as if you were one of them. I like stories like this. I am very pleased that this is the first in a trilogy and so I have more to look forward to from this author. After all this is her debut novel.

So glad you liked this one. I've read mixed reviews.

Sandra Stiles I have some mature readers at school, along with their mothers. I know a book is good when not only I enjoy it but it never makes it back on my shelf. I have kids return this book with their friend in tow to be the next to check it out. I love the fact that many of my students tell me their mother's are reading the books as well.
