Joyce's review of Independence Day
Independence Day by Richard Ford
I am reading this book for a course in Important Contemporary novels. It won the Pulitizer Prize, however it does not appeal to me. It is the story of a divorced man, his relation with his children, girlfriends and ex wife. I have read about 300 of 450 pages and find it very slow, all description and no action. I'll see what happens and report, and also report what the Rice University professor leading the class says
