Dog on It (A Chet and Bernie Mystery, #1)
by Spencer Quinn (Goodreads Author)

Those of you who enjoy books about dogs and mysteries will find this book to your liking. This book is comparable to books written by Lillian Jackson Braun, Rita Mae Brown, and Lauren Berenson.
Bernie is a down in his luck private investigator. Chet is his faithful companion, best friend, and a dog who flunked out of K-9 class. These two are about to take on the case of Madison Chambliss, a fifteen year old, who has disappeared.
There seems to be some question as to whether she has been abducted or has run away from home. Madison is from a broken home but, up to this time, has not shown any ill effects concerning her parent's divorce.
Bernie and Chet take on the case and discover that Madison's disappearance is far more complicated than they were led to believe. They are both put into danger and with each other's help are able to get out of trouble.
The story has a nice twist to it, in that the majority of the narration is done by Bernie's faithful companion, Chet. He gives us insight into the canine world and their perception of man.
As far as mysteries go, the reader should be able to figure this one out with little difficulty. The real crux of the story is the relationship between man and dog. It provides humor, love, and fidelity.
I would have to classify this book as being "cute". I don't mean this as a put down in any way. It is an absolute fun book to read and can be read and enjoyed by everyone, and I am looking forward to the next installment of Bernie and Chet.
