Laura's review of The Accidental Tourist
The Accidental Tourist by Anne Tyler
I had loved this movie for years and never read the book. It was my first experience reading Anne Tyler and by far my favorite book of hers. I probably read it over the course of two days. Her characters are so alive, and you can perfectly visualize the settings. She just has a way of creating such a real, tangible world in her novels. The emotions are just as gripping, and there is always a good dose of humor. Everything in her novels is so balanced, so precise, and so entertaining. I love the character of Macon and his voice stayed with me for a long time after.
