From what I've heard this story plays out in a way that strikingly resembles Star Wars...
Though there are clear similarities in the beginning, Eragon soon establishes itself in it's own right and becomes a lot more than just another obvious knock-off (but having said that: a young unassuming farmboy meets an old, wise storyteller with a mysterious past. A Princess in need of help. An ancient and deceased race of peace-keepers soon to be reborn, and an Empire ruled by a tyrant even Vader could be proud of?...). Still, this is a good read. I found it frustrating at times (Eragon's 'higher than thou' attitude when it comes to fighting and killing, comes to mind) and often long-winded, but consistently entertaining. By the end, I was tired, sure, but I still want to find out what happens next.
