Stevenson's Suicide Club is part of a little book titled "New Arabian Nights" and is about a group of men who get together to..well, die.
They have all lost their fortunes and see no way to recoup them. In the Suicide Club, cards are drawn. Aces of certain suits dealt indicate the "fortunate" man who gets to end it all and other Aces in other suits designate the member who will help them do it. Of course, there are complications and the three-part story examines the victims and perpetrators.
