Fast-paced as a video game; lots of smart-a** dialogue, much weaponry and Norse Mythology. But halfway through the book, you still don't know why Gideon Coxhall was "recruited" to fight on the side of Odin other than he succumbs to berserker rage in combat like a true Viking. Odin is a wise old man, Thor is obsessed with his hammer, and Gid is obsessed with Freya; a Norse blonde bombshell. Wolves are led by Fenrir, there are Ice giants and Trolls, and the Norn (Northern kin to the Greek Fates).

Total escapist fantasy.
