Very nice, entertaining read with wonderful love scenes, but with a "wallpaper historical" feel to it. The solution to the murder mystery felt somewhat rushed, and didn't quite work in the story, especially with all the buildup about someone wanting to kill Julian. Lily the heroine is deaf and communicates through lip-reading - this was another aspect that I had a hard time believing, because some of the things she supposedly lip-read, like the parrot's speech, would be impossible to do! Julian was too melodramatic, always running away because he felt he was "unworthy" of Lily. Somehow I don't think a guy, especially with his background, would emote and worry about his feelings and his unworthiness quite so much.

willaful I don't think she's shown as understanding what the parrot says. She has to have someone else tell her.
