In my opinion, Award-winning Ann Charles could have gone to auction with this book. Nearly Departed in Deadwood is the first in a series starring Violet Parker, a down-and-out, single mother of adolescent twins. Not only can Violet who is employed as a Realtor not get a listing, which is necessary to keep her job, but little girls are going missing who strong match the description of her daughter Addy. Filled with humor, poignancy, fantastic quirky characters, Charles also sets up a heck of a mystery. If you have a busy life, you'll hate having to put this book down; if you have time on your hands, you'll read it in one sitting.
