So, I am in fact a literate human and am now reading again . . . this one was a good one to come back with. I must admit that the parallel stories that both involved long portions of books within a book - I got a little lost at times. It needs to be read quickly in order to keep all the strands together . . .

Story chronicles an elderly Jewish man's life that includes loving a woman who ends up marrying someone else, time spent hiding from Nazis, living alone in NYC . . . oh I can't do it justice. The writing is incredible and the story(ies) are bittersweet and all about love and loss. The characters were wonderful. Would be a great discussion book . . .
