This book lacked in almost every regard. The characters lack any real motivation in their "pursuit" of Fred, a supposedly alluring mermaid. Fred is unsympathetic, mean, and thoroughly uninteresting. I don't know why any of the men are interested in her in the least. Also, for a romance, there's no actual romance, either in the way of wooing or in the way of sex.

There is plenty of better paranormal romance out there, some that actually lives up to its name.
